Girls elsewhere…

Ooof. January has been a bit painful so far, hasn’t it? The weather’s dire, everyone’s back at work, and it’s at least 11 months before I can buy a Christmas tree again. Still, on the bright side, the days are getting a bit longer and I can *almost* feel the smallest hint of spring in the air.

So pretty!

So pretty!

This week was pretty good for me, as I celebrated my birthday. Amy and I got tiddly at my party on Saturday night and had a lovely time. I made a six layer rainbow cake, which I was pretty pleased with. It’s all about using proper professional paste food colourings – that’s the only way to get the really dazzling effect.

Amy posted a fantastic round up of what’s in season this month on She Cooks, She Eats. Eating in season is definitely worthwhile – it’s more economical, better for the environment, and the food tastes better too. I’m using it as an excuse to eat a LOT of parsnips this month.

Scoffed.

Scoffed.

I shared my recipe for banana spiced madeleines over on Peach Trees and Bumblebees. They’re terribly moreish and dead easy to make.

Oh and did I mention my parents got a puppy over Christmas? He’s called Brodie and he’s GORGEOUS.

Though have you seen Amy’s dog? He’s all kinds of lovely too.

I love this.

I love this.

And to round off the week, here’s an amusing photo of Amy and me. How’s your week been? xx
